Welk Resorts / Golf Club will be applying slurry seal to Paseo Real on Thursday, October 5. Paseo Real will need to be kept dry starting on the afternoon of October 4th through October 8th. Please do not do any car washing or watering during this period. The board will be timing turf scalping and overseeding accordingly.

Recently, two different homeowners requested architectural variances which requested conversion of a certain amount of common area (adjacent to their patios) to exclusive use common area (with enclosure). State law requires a vote by the Association membership on such variances, with very few limited exceptions; 66.6% affirmative vote is required to approve.

The results of the vote were tallied on a special meeting June 29th, 2017 at 2:30pm at the Desert Management office, with Anjannette Baca and Luis Garcia acting as Inspectors of Election.  Both variances were approved with the necessary 66.6% affirmative vote:

We are so excited that a project we’ve worked on for a long time has finally come to fruition — increased lighting on our pathways!  We have doubled or tripled the number of pagoda lights on the pathways behind the units, giving great visibility at night for walkers and dog walkers. Not only is the pathway nicely illuminated, but the general ambient light level has increased.

The board is still investigating ways to increase lighting levels on the fronts of the units. This is a trickier problem than it seems due to where the Association electrical outlets lie. But be assured that we are searching for a good workable solution that we can implement this year or next.

After 8 years as President of Association 1, I have decided to step down from the Presidency. I remain a board member, having been named Vice-President by the Board during our Organization Meeting that followed the Annual Meeting.

The Board elected me President in 2009 when the previous president Deb White was not re-elected to the board. In that vacuum, I wanted to continue her strong fiscal responsibility, having brought us back from the brink of insolvency after some very bad years. But I also wanted to move us from survival mode to an association that would be the envy of the entire development. Continue reading →

Our Annual General Meeting was held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Clubhouse. We reviewed finances as well as our past, present and future projects. Sher Landrum and Virginia Cornell were re-elected to three year terms on the Board. None of our owners expressed an interest in serving as a committee member or as a Board Member, as a result the Board will continue to fill all of these roles. Several of our owners made comments and asked questions that will be addressed by the Board in upcoming Board meetings.

The Annual Meeting cannot take place unless we have 32 out of 62 homes represented, and representation is determined (pre-meeting) by the number of ballots that are in. Please complete and mail-in your ballot as soon as possible so that we know that there will be a quorum. Continue reading →

The Annual Meeting for the condo owners of Association 1 will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cathedral Canyon Golf Clubhouse on Paseo Real. The Annual Meeting is time when your Board of Directors reviews past and future projects, and Board members are elected or re-elected. The pond, which lies north of Paseo Real between Pool 1 and the 9th green, has a broken pump, and the golf course has temporarily drained it until the pump is repaired or replaced. We have not yet been given an estimated time of completion.

While the pond lies in both Association 1 and golf course territories, it is actually managed and used by the golf course as a reservoir.
